Today, fine spirits from all over the world decorate the walls of the First American bar, but in 1971 everything was designed by the famous architect Hans Hollein. The portal and the windows at this building with the address Schulerstraße 16 are particularly extraordinary. Peter Noever opened Austria’s first concept store (Section N) here and also gave the instructions for the design. After this, the famous soccer player Hans Krankl opened a fashion store for men here. And a little later, the smell of coffee dominated this walls as the firm “Schärf” took over. The First American bar opened on the 1.12.1996.

At first, Ado Castelletto (Café de l’Europe) and Roland Bruckner were the directors of this noble bar in the centre of Vienna. One of the first regulars was the famous photographer Peter Baumann. In 2001, Zoran Djurovic and Ababcar Sy (Baba) whp started off as barkeepers took over the bar. Since then, guests from Austria and
abroad have been enjoying their visits to the First American bar. The bar-teams competence as well as the huge selection of cocktails are great strengths. The bar is also known for its unique flair and the regular gin-, whisky and rum tastings.
